A frenectomy is a minor surgical procedure that involves the removal or modification of the frenum, a small fold of tissue that connects the lips, cheeks, or tongue to the gum or jaw. This procedure is often necessary when the frenum is too tight or thick, causing functional issues such as difficulty in speech, swallowing, or dental alignment.
