At Fisher Periodontics, every patient is required to have a Periodontal Consultation Exam prior to starting treatment!
If you have a Specific Periodontal Concern localized to one area of your mouth, you will meet with our Treatment Coordinator and Dr. Fisher to assess your specific concern and discuss your personalized treatment plan.
For generalized Periodontal Disease or periodontal concerns in multiple areas of your mouth, a Complete Comprehensive Exam will be required. You will meet with a Hygienist for the Initial Measurements Exam. Then you will meet with our Treatment Coordinator and Dr. Fisher to further discuss your personalized treatment plan.
A periodontal consultation and assessment is an evaluation of the health of your gums and supporting structures around your teeth. During this appointment, a dental professional examines your gums for signs of disease, such as inflammation, gum recession, or pockets between the teeth and gums. Being prepared ensures a more accurate assessment of your periodontal health.
A periodontal consultation and assessment is generally not painful. It involves a visual examination of your gums, probing to measure gum pockets, and possibly X-rays. You may feel slight discomfort during probing if your gums are sensitive, but the procedure is usually well-tolerated. If you’re concerned, let your dental professional know—they can ensure your comfort throughout the process.
